Danny Michel
Ghost Town
Independent
Toronto singer-songwriter Danny Michel hasn’t been heard from in a while, at least as far as official recordings go. Actually, it has been five years to be exact, but now he’s back with his latest, self-released album Ghost Town.
It is only when the album starts off with “The Point Of No Return” that you realize that you should be glad that he is back.
Michel explains the absence with two factors – writers block and the pandemic. While many artists have been complaining about the pandemic, Michel is one of the rare ones that frankly admits to the writerβs block.
Yet, judging by the 10 songs here, it seems that he is over with that problem, and his songwriting is back in full force. And it is that frankness, expressed in his lyrics here, and some subtle, diverse arrangements that shine, along with his expressive vocals. An excellent comeback.
