Maybe Art Bergmann is not catching the headlines outside of Canada, but he should certainly be, particularly after his latest album ShadowWalk. While he describes himself as “anti-hero-iconoclast of Canadian music” he is — and should be — recognized as one of Canada’s greatest living singer/songwriters.

It is due to his off the beaten track songwriting, lyrics, and voice to match, which all come to full light on this album, dedicated to Sherri Decembrini, Bergmann’s wife of 30 years who passed away in 2022.

While, as could be expected, the tone of the album is full of dark thoughts, it is also filled with optimism that life still has quite a few things to offer. Bergmann’s songwriting, lyrics, and vocals are full of mixed emotions that he is able to express in the best possible manner, not leaving any listener without emotions.
