ALAINA STACEY
DUSK
INDEPENDENT

Is it pop or is it Americana? Kacey Musgraves and a few other artists resolved that dilemma a while ago, by proving that it could be either or both and that makes no difference, as long as the songwriting and performance spell a set of songs that present something substantial and well, more simply put, something you just keep on listening to.
That is where another such artist, singer songwriter Alaina Stacey comes in with her latest EP Dusk. As you might have guessed, it is a part of her EP trilogy that includes Dawn and Day, with Dusk being that twilight sounding introduction to late night.
The question with such musical attempts that are to portray a certain mood, setting, and fit within it is in the capability to make a connection between the artist’s musical view and mood with that of the listener, and through the six songs here, that are intricately arranged to create that dusky mood through some sophisticated songwriting and interpretation, Stacey definitely succeeds here, transcending any possible genre restrictions or descriptions.
