JOHN DOUGLAS
STILL OR SPARKLING?
REVEAL RECORDS
There are some compelling reasons Trashcan Sinatras’ John Douglas has made a name as a solo artist as well, as his self-titled album from this time last year showcased his impeccable songwriting and ever-evolving voice.
Now, as he embarks on a solo tour, he is coming up with Still Or Sparkling, a four-song EP that is in some respects the continuation of what he came up on the last year’s album, and on the other, brings something new to the play.
The ‘old’ is the fact that Douglas’ songwriting seems to be continuing to grow further in its sophistication and detail, and the ‘new’ is that, while the album was an all-acoustic affair, the EP brings in his life and music partner Eddi Reader on backing vocals, as well as Alan Kelly on accordion and Kevin McGuire on double bass to add some new elements to his music.
Along with being the tour companion, the EP might also be a sign of what is coming up next, and it is a good sign indeed.
