Yet another Americana artist? Well, yes and no really, as Americana as a genre has long been an expanding musical category that includes so many disparate musical elements that often don’t have much in common.

Not in the case of singer-songwriter David Luning and his third album Lessons. On the surface, Luning includes here all the well-known elements that listeners had a chance to encounter in recent years – from ‘standard’ country and folk to ‘pure’ rock and elements that singer-songwriters are known for.

Yet Luning has that essential songwriting touch needed to raise his music above ‘standard’ (average, if you will) and make it something that the listener would want to pick up and play it again – more than just a passing musical thought.

The stellar backup Luning has here supports his songwriting and delivery to the full, making the musical experience complete.
