JORDAN REYES
SAND LIKE STARDUST
American Dreams Records
Ambient country might be a relatively new category for some, and it seems to be developing in popularity. After listening to Sand Like Stardust, new album by experimental artist Jordan Reyes, there are some really good reasons why it should.
On Sand Like Stardust, Reyes tries to give such a sound a bigger set of layers, and in a way, shows his experimental background. He obviously tries to give certain instruments, in this case a pedal steel, a new tonal perspective, but still without losing a melodic perspective or going down too far into experimentation, or better said, dissonance.
What Reyes has come up with is in more direct terms an experimental album that is actually at the same time both demanding and easy to listen to. And yes, you can call it ambient country. Easily.
