D E C O R U M – “Near Gone”
A Spill Exclusive Video Premiere
The video for “Near Gone” is our best attempt at making a homemade green screen and then superimposing ourselves over a dilapidated church. It was filmed in our closet of a practice space which measures 9ft by 9ft. Initially, I thought it would be fun to pay homage to The Smashing Pumpkins video, “Disarm”, but upon seeing the finished product, the videos are nothing alike with the exception of band-people floating around some kind of building. We wanted a moving image for the background because sometimes performance videos can be dull and also we wouldn’t be added too much to the lot. We wanted to personify the gloom by honing our inner goths and then appear larger than life while there is a blown out structure in the background. I’m trying to remember if our makeup looks greasy because of the hot lights or because we purposefully intended on looking that way. It got pretty hot in there.
“Initially, I thought it would be fun to loosely pay homage to The Smashing Pumpkins video for “Disarm,” but without the slickness — mostly maintaining of our kind of goth ghostly gloom on an 8mm aesthetic.”
