Dylan Luster – “Don’t Know About You”
A Spill Exclusive Music Premiere
Dylan Luster is a 27-year old indie folk artist from East Los Angeles. Shaped by working class roots and a colorful past as a gravedigger and crematory operator, Luster’s self-titled debut EP is a pensive narrative that evolves around themes of impermanence, bourgeois alienation, and the fraying of love.
Influenced by the song craft of Townes Van Zandt and Harry Nilsson, Luster’s music covers sonic territories from Americana to Bossa Nova, incorporating emotive layers of harmonica and pedal steel. While the songs meet at the intersection of romanticism and exuberance, the arrangements are a delicate experiment in minimalism.
The 4 song collection was produced and mixed by Marlon Rabenreither (Gold Star, Lael Neale, Gateway Drugs), and will be released in June 2016 on the independent California imprint Starfish Records. It features guest performances by Casey McGarry, Dan Wistrom, Eric McCann, and Brady Leffler.
