The Crooked – “I Didn’t Know”
A Spill Exclusive Music Premiere
The Crooked was founded by J.C. Sandoval (Die Mannequin/Secret Broadcast), Dell’Orso (The Joy Arson) and Russ Shipman (The Darkstone Crows). The band wields a modern, punk-inspired sound, shot through with 90’s nostalgia and serrated with heavy riffs and ‘crooked’ rhythms. Recent arrival from England, Neelesh V., completes the band on lead guitar.
The Crooked will debut live tomorrow, Friday April 7th, at Lee’s Palace. Supporting them on the bill will be Iman & The Wasted lala’s, Laugh At The Fakes, The Commoners and Johnny Menace.
“I Didn’t Know” is available for download on Bandcamp.
Artist Quotes About The Single/Video
“The song’s main theme is about when infatuation hits your heart harder than any drug can. It’s pleasantly disorienting, but ends quite quickly. We think this tune will make a good introduction for the band – it’s sweet and punchy. Hopefully we’ll leave the listener craving more.”
“The process was very D.I.Y., and we’re proud to say that we did a lot with very little. The studio we recorded out of was not ideal for a rock band. It was very small and had limited equipment to work with. Luckily, Long & McQuade supplied us with some extra recording gear to make sure we captured the best sound possible, and the good folks at Steam Whistle Brewery sponsored us some liquid courage. We decided to document the whole thing with Shay Markowitz from Bluetrail Creative. She filmed both the recording process and the numerous beers we shared with our friends who visited the studio to support us.”
