SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: YESES – YESES

Yeses

Yeses
Yeses
Independent

Yeses’ debut self-titled EP dropped October 19 and offers a unique addition to the world of alternative music.

Upon hearing it for the very first time, the extended play brings an unexplainable sense of nostalgia to the listener’s ears. The album consists of soothing vocals, catchy choruses, and thought-provoking lyrics. Yeses sheds light on the struggles everyone faces while embarking on the unpredictable journey of life.

“The Long Way Home” is by far the breakout track of the album because of how relatable the lyrics are. We have all felt lost or far from home at some point, whether it be grappling with a major change in life or searching for the answers of questions that cannot be solved. These philosophical undertones can be found throughout each song, giving the album an authenticity that is impossible to replicate.

Overall, the EP combines a laid-back atmosphere with real-life concerns to create a distinct sound. The listener is mentally transported to a whole other world while submerged in the mesmerizing music. The familiarity of the album makes us all feel a little less far from home and more confident of the success of the band, Yeses.
